Because a folding phone is the hardest case anyone in this industry has had to make, and we would rather be late than ship something that fails. It is two halves and a hinge, you will open and close it thousands of times a year, and the lip a case grips onto is a fraction of what it is on a normal iPhone. We tooled up multiple complete designs, tested steel and fibreglass stiffeners, and threw away everything that did not work. We are nearly there, and we are not shipping it until it is right.
