It's designed to complement it rather than disappear into it, so you may notice a difference depending on the light and the angle you're holding it at.

Your iPhone is anodised metal and glass — both specular surfaces, which reflect light directionally and shift in tone as you tilt the phone. Our Dark Cherry backplate is a fine matte fabric, which scatters light instead, so it stays consistent from every angle. Two very different behaviours, which is why the two can look closely aligned one moment and slightly apart the next. Lighting and photography exaggerate it further.
